Analysis of causes and countermeasures of extraordinary rainstorm in 22nd, May, Guangzhou

Chen Wenlong;Xia Jun;

Affected by global warming and urbanization, extreme rainstorms occur frequently in Guangzhou. Water-logging disasters caused by rainstorm have become a prominent issue affecting the water resources safety in Guangzhou. Historical data analysis and the survey of "5.22" extremely heavy rainstorm disaster is combined in this paper, and causes for floods in Guangzhou are concluded in the following aspects: rainfall intensity, urban construction,urban drainage system and tidal effects. Finally, preventive measures have been raised in the following aspects:planning and implementation, legal system construction, flood control emergency decision-making, water-logging point management and standardized management.

Smart water conservancy theory system and digital twin watershed virtual model research summary

Ye Yuntao ;Jiang Yunzhong ;Cao Yin ;Shang Yizi ;Gu Jingjing ;Dong Jiaping ;Huang Jianxiong ;Guan Haozhe;

Smart water conservancy signifies high-quality development in the water conservancy sector. To address challenges in smart water conservancy construction, such as incomplete theoretical frameworks, low accuracy in watershed mapping, and inadequate model precision, we established a smart water conservancy theoretical system composed of smart watershed, digital twin watershed, and intelligent water network theories. We investigated digital twin watershed perception models, including digital twin perception node optimization, precipitation remote sensing,evapotranspiration remote sensing, soil water remote sensing, lake water remote sensing, groundwater remote sensing, and water quality remote sensing models. Additionally, we constructed digital twin watershed virtual models encompassing hydrological, hydrodynamic, water quality, dynamic regulation, virtual simulation, collaborative decision-making, and parallelized combination models. These research outcomes offer theoretical foundations and technical support for smart water conservancy construction in China.

Review on study progress of identification and evaluation for water environment risk sources

Sun Taotao;Zhao Xin;Yin Kuihao;Peng Shenghua;Lin Qing;

The paper reviews the study progress of water environment risk sources identification and evaluation in China and other countries. The study shows that there are more matured methodologies for point and non-point sources identification and case studies, but very few methodologies for identifying move sources. In terms of risk assessment, the methodologies that suit for identifying eutrophication in China has been found, but the methods and standards for risk assessment of organic pollutants and heavy metals are mainly references of foreign literatures that needs in-depth studies, so as to find out risk assessment methods and standards that are suitable to local environment.

Analysis of Water Supply and Demand in 21st Century China: Ecological Water Conservancy Research

Liu Changming

Facing the resource and environmental challenges in 21st-century China, the issue of water is particularly severe. Scarcity and wastage coexist; abundance and ecological imbalance coexist; contamination and poor management coexist. In fact, there are interconnected and transformative relationships among water resources, water disasters, and water environments. Water, as a core element of ecology and the environment, has positive effects when utilized efficiently as a water resource. However, fluctuations in its abundance and scarcity can lead to water-related disasters, while its quality evolution is closely related to water management and environmental protection efforts...

Exploration of artificial intelligence large model applications in digital twin water conservancy construction

Shu Quanying ;Ma Yuan ;Chen Liang ;Li Lei ;Guo Lei ;Wu Jianbai;

Artificial intelligence(AI) large models can provide new momentum for enhancing the quality and efficiency of digital twin water conservancy construction. Following the approach of “positioning analysis,route exploration, needs assessment, implementation, and model promotion”, this study analyzes the challenges in digital twin water conservancy, the development and industry applications of AI large models, and the necessity and feasibility of their application in this field. From the perspectives of technology, business, and management, the study explores the application of AI large models in digital twin water conservancy scenarios.Using the technical path of “scenario digitization, intelligent simulation, and precise decision-making”, the study outlines key technologies such as dynamic digital scenario construction, intelligent simulation of complex systems, and precise human-machine collaborative decision-making. Based on a “2+N” business demand framework, the application routes and steps of AI large models are illustrated through specific scenarios, such as the “four pre”(forecasting, warning, rehearsal, and planning) flood control applications and network security protection. The study proposes a co-construction and sharing model for the application of AI large models in digital twin water conservancy, offering a “co-construction and sharing, unified and distributed, collaborative promotion” development approach. The findings provide references for the functional positioning and business scenario implementation of AI large models in digital twin water conservancy construction.
