Statements of China Water Resources on Maintaining Journal Publishing Ethics and Resisting Academic Misconduct

 

China Water Resources has always attached great importance to academic ethics, maintained academic integrity, resisted academic misconduct, and strived to provide support and a platform for the healthy development of water resources all over the world. Both parties of authors and editors shall bear the responsibilities of maintaining journal publishing ethics and resisting academic misconduct. In order to maintain an ethical academic environment, the editorial office of this journal hereby makes the following statements:

1. China Water Resources firmly opposes any form of academic misconduct. Authors must submit original research results with authentic and trustworthy content, not involving any confidential breach. When submitting a manuscript, authors must make a commitment that there is no academic misconduct, including but not limited to plagiarism, forgery, multiple submissions, duplicate publications, false annotations, etc. The editorial office uses the CNKI-Tengyun system to process manuscripts and conducts plagiarism checks on all manuscripts.

2. The editorial office of China Water Resources adheres to the principle of fairness, take strict measures for manuscript review, strengthen and standardize peer review, invite experts and use detection system to examine and investigate manuscript content, and ensure scientific, authoritative, and credible academic evaluations. 

3. All authors should have contributed to the article and have no dispute over the ranking. Other contributors of the article (e.g. laboratory assistant) may be listed in acknowledgement. “Gift author” is strictly prohibited. The order and affiliation of authors should be determined upon submission, and should not be changed thereafter. 

4. All authors must disclose all potential conflicts of interest, i.e., when the financing/personal status/affiliation of the authors (or the authors' organization/employer) may affect the authors' decision, work or manuscript. When a product is mentioned, the author should also disclose whether there is a conflict of interest against competitive products.

5.  Authors should declare their contribution and conflict of interest in Authors Statement Form, which should be signed and submitted to the journal.  For manuscripts with academic misconduct, once discovered, the editorial office of China Water Resources shall refer to the code of conduct for journal editors by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and take necessary measures, including but not limited to rejecting or retracting the article, notifying the authors’ affiliation, and terminating dissemination of the article. 

 

The spirit of science and academic ethics is the cornerstone of academic development. With the joint efforts of readers, authors, reviewers, and editors, the editorial office of China Water Resources shall continue to practice publishing ethics and maintain a fair, open, and reputable academic environment.
